Months after becoming the creative director of Gucci, Alessandro Michele has revealed his first campaign for the luxury brand. In the campaign shot by Glen Luchford, models Lia Pavlova, Tessa Bruinsma, Tobias Lundh, and Sven de Vries take to the streets of Los Angeles in dreamy ‘70s inspired clothing. Models sport ruffled dresses, pussy-bowblouses and floral suits as they explore the streets and subways of the City of Angels. We also see some unmistakably Gucci pieces like horsebit loafers and double G belts.
The campaign offers an interesting contrast between the dreamy, vintage inspired outfitsof the models and the more traditionally dressed city dwellers in the background. Streetfashion and urban life definitely appear to be on Michele’s radar.
“I wanted to bring my creative vision to life through this advertising campaign, the first one featuring my collections,” Michele told The Huffington Post. “I decided to go back to the streets, as with the Cruise collection I just showed in New York. I believe there is a fluid and organic contamination that exists between the catwalk and the street. Fashion, especially ready-to-wear, is something real, made for everyday and for everyone to express their own creativity and individuality.”
